Lowie, I was unable to "attend" the funeral service and I am very sorry about that. Mike had to have a procedure on one of his eyes and we thought we would be back home in time but we were not. I wish I could give you and the girls all hugs. I love you all. Eileen

Sharing in your sorrow, we are thinking of each one of you in this difficult time and wish we could be there. We have many fond memories of family picnics and visits. Uncle Dave was always so good with the kids from playing guitar to sharing and talking about coins. His kind smile will not be forgotten and Uncle Dave will always be in our hearts. With Love, Debi, Chuck, Chaz, Megan and Lin.

Lois,

Please accept my most sincere condolences. Dave was my friend and neighbor and was glad we got reunited at Port Authority. He was a great guy and he will be sorely missed by all that knew him. My thoughts are with you and your family.

The first two attributes that pop to mind when I think of my friend Dave are his welcoming smile and gentle soul. It always amazed me that such a gentle soul could also be such a strong leader among men with his fellow Marines. He loved and cared for his men just as he loved and cared for all. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, people listened.
I will truly miss Dave, I will miss his smile and I will always regard him as one of the few heroes I've known in my life.
It's interesting that a hero is defined as," ...one who displays courage and self-sacrifice for the greater good."
That description fits Dave without a doubt. I will you miss you buddy and will see you again guarding the gates of heaven.

I first met Dave in the 1990s as a member of a Viet Vets Group. He impressed me right away with his insights; his ability to take a thorny situation immediately to its essence. As much as I admired his abilities, over the years I came to value his friendship more than his contributions to the group. I shall miss him.

Dave has been solid and loyal friend since I crossed his path decades ago. I have faith we will cross paths again down the road.
I have had the honor to watch as Dave transformed from battle-hardened combat Marine to a dedicated-loving husband and father.
The significance of the Purple Heart he received showed Daves resolve however it was for his huge heart that he shall be remembered for.
