David A. Tonya, age 56, of Templeton formerly of Connoquenessing passed away, Thursday August 30, 2012, after a courageous, hard fought 7 year battle with cancer.
Born May 29, 1956, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of Joseph and Ann (Crnarich) Tonya, of Poland , Ohio.
He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Merdian.
Dave graduated from Springfield Local High School and the Mahoning County Career and Technical School in 1974. He managed Bear Ridge Campground in Templeton, PA and was a realtor for Northwood Realty, with his wife Judy.
He was and avid snowmobiler, loved traveling, selling Christmas Trees, and going to the Casino. Dave also played in a Polka band with his brother in the 70's.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Schubert) Tonya, whom he married August 17, 1991; his parents; his children, Brandon at home, Justin (Amber) Tonya of Monaca, and Mary Louise (Santana) Crespo of Poland Ohio; a sister, Cathy Kalentis of Poland, Ohio; a brother, Steve (Linda) of Chattanooga, TN,; six grandchildren, Mikayla, Jackson, and Jonathan Tonya and Ava, Zoe, and Gia Crespo; a brother-in-law Rick (Paulette) Schubert of Prospect; a sister-in-law, Breeze (Frank) Menchyk of Connoquenessing; and nieces, Lauren, Alicia, Holly, and Nephew, T.J.. He also leaves his Bear Ridge family, and his constant companion, beloved dog, Scooter.
A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 West Main St., Evans City, PA 16033. On Tuesday September 4, 2012 from 5-8 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday September 5, at 11:00 A.M. from St. Fidelis Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Merdian PA
