Donald J. Washington Sr., age 73, of Evans City, passed away Saturday July 5, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born July 29, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John and Iris (Overby) Washington.
Don was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Leetsdale.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a foster father.
Don was a loving husband and father. He loved helping anyone in need.
In Don's spare time he loved watching Western's and Military films on the History Channel. You could always see Don with a smile on his face around his grandchildren. Don liked to play the lottery.
Don had worked as a truck driver for McGaughey Trucking, in Leetsdale, he later worked as a Security Guard at Cauley Detective Services in Pittsburgh.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Joan Russell Washington on October 22, 1998, and his two brothers, Sylvester, and Thomas Washington.
Don is survived by one son, Donald (Angel) Washington Jr., of Pittsburgh, two daughters Louise Spears of Zelienople, and Tiffany (Kenya) Fitzgerald of Cranberry Twp., three sisters, Irene (Lynwood) McBride, and Laverne (Arthur) Jackson, both of Evans City, and Gloria Carter of Pittsburgh, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives of Don Washington will be received on Thursday July 10, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Kinsey-Volz F.H., 328 West Main St., Evans City. PA, Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 A.M. from the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evans City Cemetery.
