Donald C. "Jug" Kristophel, 84 of Zelienople passed away suddenly Monday afternoon Oct. 27, 2014 at his residence.
Born August 6, 1930 in Harmony, he was the son of the late Jacob and Nellie Bame Kristophel.
Don was a life member of Grace Church of Harmony where he had served as the treasure for more than 50 years. He was also an active member of the Men"s Sunday School Class and the Senior Saints.
Jug had retired in 1994 from Universal Mfg. Corp. of Zelienople in the Shipping Dept. with over 46 years of service.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War with the 304 Signal Battalion.
Jug had attended Zelienople High School.
He was a great Outdoorsman and loved hunting, working with guns, playing tennis and bicycling. Jug was a life member of the NRA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, David W. "Kris" Kristophel.
Jug is survived by his wife, Hilda E. Myers Kristophel, who he married Sept. 24, 1955; sisters and brother in law, Rachael Kristophel of Hobart, IN., Herm and Gerry Myers of Middle Lancaster and Glenda Myers of Bryon, GA.; cousins,
nieces, nephews, and many friends, and extended family the Schmidtke"s.
Friends of Donald C. "Jug" Kristophel, who died Monday, October 27, 2014, will be received on Wednesday October 29, 2014, from 6-8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 10-11 AM at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 114 W. Spring St., Zelienople, PA Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M.
