A. Martin Marburger

Died: 4/3/2011

A. Martin Marburger, 92, of Butler, formerly of Evans City, passed away Sunday morning April 3, 2011, in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 23, 1918, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Adam C. and Georgia McCandless Marburger.

Mr. Marburger was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Evans City and also a member at First United Methodist Church Butler. He owned and operated the Marburger Farm Dairy retiring as the president. A graduate of Evans City High School, he then went on to Penn State University, graduating in 1940. He belonged to Penn State Alumni Association. He also enjoyed attending the Penn State Football games.

He belonged to Western PA Dairy Association and the Butler Farm Bureau. He was on the Board of Directors of Titusville Dairy and the Mid-East Advertising Board. Mr. Marburger enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Tri-County Golf League for 30 years. He was also a member of the Monday Nite Bowling League.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; Jennie M. Pearson Marburger, August 24, 1980, 2 sisters Edna and Jean, 2 brothers Vernon and Joe, and a greatgranddaughter, Madison Robb.

He is survived by his wife; Claire L. Mayer Marburger, whom he married December 8, 1983; 2 daughters, Rita (Richard) Reifenstein, Evans City, Marge (Garrie) Wearing, Renfrew; a son, James M. (Pat) Marburger, Evans City; a sister, M. Catherine "Katie" Marburger, Zelienople; 2 stepdaughters, Lynn (Jay) Shaffer, Butler, Lori (Greg) Wilson, Pittsburgh; 4 grandchildren, Craig Marburger, Carrie (Jim) Robb, Kurt Wearing, Todd (Danielle) Wearing; 5 stepgrandchildren, Bradley (Leanne) Shaffer, Lindsey Shaffer, Bethany Wilson, Rick (Ami) Reifenstein, Chris (Brooke) Reifenstein; two greatgrandchildren Colton and Peyton Wearing; and 4 stepgreatgrandchildren.

Relatives and friends of A. Martin Marburger, who died Sunday, April 3, 2011, will be received at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Evans City PA 16033, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Evans City. Burial will take place in the Evans City Cemetery.
