Ronald J. Eckstein

Died: 4/12/2011

Ronald J. Eckstein, 83, of Renfrew passed away Tuesday evening April 12, 2011, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless Township.

He was born on August 20, 1927, in Wilkinsburg, and was the son of the late Stuart and Elizabeth Gunther Eckstein.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII.

He was a self employed carpenter. He was proud of the train display he had built and used for 50 years in his home, and now can be seen at Christmas in the Harmony Museum. He enjoyed gardening and raising goats. His favorite time was spent in his hot tub, and swimming pool. He loved baseball.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Lyda Lee Yobp Eckstein on January 12, 1974, and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Idamarie Miller Eckstein, whom he married August 11, 1974; one daughter, Danielle Kennedy of Bridgeville; seven sons, Dennis (Sherri) of Evans City, Paul of Renfrew, Daryl (Debbie) and Richard both of Butler, Timothy (Rebekah) of Atlanta, GA; Todd (Joy) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Ames at home; two brothers, Theodore (Helaine) of Flordia, and Homer (Jean) of Harmony; one sister, Ruth Cavalarro, of GA, his mother-in-law, Edith Yobp of Creighton, and also 10 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of Ronald J. Eckstein, who died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011. Services will be held on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. from Westminster U.P. Church, Evans City.
