Rosemary Owens Goetz

Died: 3/12/2026

Whether in her garden or in life, Rosemary “Rose” Goetz had a gift for nurturing plants, beauty, and the people around her.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by kindness, quiet generosity, and a deep love for her family. She passed away on March 12 at the age of 62.

Rose was born on October 3, 1963, to the late Edward and Regina Owens of Cranberry Township. Only a few short years after graduating from Seneca Valley Senior High School, she married her best friend and the love of her life, J. Douglas Goetz, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.

She devoted herself to raising their two children as a homemaker and supporting their family-owned business.

She was a proud grandmother to two grandsons, a loving sister, aunt and friend, and an avid gardener. Her flower gardens were so beautiful that it was not uncommon for passersby to stop and admire them.

Rose is survived by her husband, J. Douglas Goetz; her children and their partners, Sarah (Robert) Abood of Silver Lake, Ohio, and James Douglas Goetz (Leah Oman) of Bellevue, Pennsylvania; her beloved grandchildren, William and Arthur Abood; her nine brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

It was Rose’s wish to share a quote from her favorite tv show, Little House on the Prairie, with her loved ones that reflects how she wished to be remembered: “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I’ll remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all.”

A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends. In memory of Rose, please spend time in nature, tend to a garden, or plant something new.

Memorial Donations can be made to the Portersville Food Pantry, PO Box 102, Portersville, PA 16037
