Mr. and Mrs. McBride and sisters of Lynnette: I just learned of Lynnette's death while reading "The Bucknellian"; and I continue to be overwhelmed with grief. Lynnette and I were 2 PA natives but shared a love of many common things.... music, art, economics and track. We also both wished our small 5foot frames were a little taller. Lynnette and I ran together on the track team at Bucknell -- she was not only an awesome long jumper, but she could run a mean 400m when she she wanted to... I received or handed off to her many, many times in the 4x400 relay. She invited me to live with her in "The Quads" when she was a senior, as she got a top pick for housing -- I was a sophomore and we spent the year together: Geri Kernisan, Dana Harbst, me and Lynnette. It was my most memorable year of college. I continue to coach track and mention Lynnette and her achievements on a routine basis - not only did she excel on the track, but she truly was an exceptional person. She made an incredibly positive impact on my life and decisions that I was making at a critical points - I will miss her greatly -- I am blessed to have known her and am a better person for having had her as a friend. I will make a point of carrying on her legacy of positive perspectives and optimistic attitudes. I hope she has found our common friend, Bill Daisley, and also my brother, as her soul has only begun her journey as an Angel. Your family will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. Lovingly, Erin

With my deepest sympathies and heart-felt condolences to the Mcbride family in this hour of berevement. Lynette truly embraced life and embodied the the proverbial "Zest for life" spirit that enabled her to seamlessly navigate her way through every social, ethnic and cultural experience she encoutered. YES, she was truly a "free spirit!" I will miss her beautiful smile and the affectionate way that she engaged people on a friendly (albeit personal) level. May you rest in eternal peace Angel. Spread your wings and take your flight into the loving arms of the Savior. You've completed your task and you ran your race with dignity, honor and purpose. Now it's time for you to rest! Love David!!!

Lynnette radiated positive energy and pluck. She was kind, confident, fun and modest about her many accomplishments -- all things that drew me and many others to her -- and her passing is heartbreaking. Blessings to the McBride family: May the many wonderful memories of your Lynnette carry you through this difficult time.

It was an email from a track teammate from high school, Patti Griest, who was 3 years ahead of me, letting me know of Lynnette's passing who was 3 years behind me at Seneca Valley. We truly were a family that cared about each other even after we graduated and lost touch. I coached track at a high school in Maryland this year and my daughters competed in long jump...they heard stories about Lynnette - I couldn't separate that event from her legacy. When I was on the team, I could still jump further than her...that was a passing phase as she sprouted wings and flew to the end of the pit for a long time after my glory days;) I just learned about the amazing life she lead after high school when I read her obituary, and can only imagine all of the stories that didn't fit on the page. I will remember her as a spunky high school freshman on the basketball court and on the track and be grateful that I was able to share that time with her. May she rest in peace and may her family and friends find ways to go on without her.

This news is terribly sad. Lynnette was a marketing student of mine at Bucknell, and we remained good friends over the years. I last saw Lynnette at her induction into Bucknell's Hall of Fame and we had a wonderful conversation. She brought that familiar and infectious smile to the classroom ... she was such a special person. My sincere sympathies to the McBride family.

Lynnette always lit up our home and hearts when she stayed at our home during her years at Bucknell. A beautiful smile, a good friend to our daughter and always a joy to be around.

I am so very sad to hear of Lynnette's passing. Lynnette was one of the athletes that I admired the most at Bucknell. So tough. So talented. She never complained and was a great role model to the younger athletes. She will truly be missed.

I will never forget the last day of 4th grade when we found out what teacher we were going to have in 5th grade. I was walking down the hall and Lynnette was walking toward me. We never met before this day. I asked her who she got for a 5th grade teacher. She said, "Mr. Edwards." "Me too!" We gave each other a high five and said, "see you next year." Lynnette was my best friend in 5th grade. I can't remember a time when she wasn't smiling. I haven't seen Lynnette since high school graduation but I never forgot her and I'm sure I never will.
